Need a Letter of Recommendation?

Request letters of recommendation from teachers for college applications through Naviance. To request a letter from your school counselor, email them and stop in to see them personally.

If you require a letter of recommendation for applications such as summer programs or scholarships, be prepared; personally ask your counselor or teacher at least ten (10) days in advance. It is not guaranteed that the letter will be completed on time if you do not give at least ten (10) days notice.

College Seminar - Becoming a Competitive College Applicant: January 27

On Monday, January 27th at 6:30 admissions representatives from Denison University, University of Florida, University of Kentucky, Penn State University and University of Pennsylvania will give a presentation on becoming a competitive college applicant.  The panel discussion will include college searching, what admissions officers look for, admission testing updates, and more.  


NACAC College Fair: January 28

The Pittsburgh National College Fair, sponsored by the National Association of College Admission Counselors, is a helpful program for JUNIORS planning for higher education. The College Fair will be held at the David Lawrence Convention Center from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.  Juniors may submit a permission slip to be excused from school in order to attend this free event.  Register here before the fair to receive a barcode for easy onsite access to college representatives. Please note that transportation is the responsibility of the parent/student and all school policies will be enforced.

FASFA Completion Night:  January 29

Families of current Seniors are invited to attend a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Completion Night hosted by Amy Sawdey, PHEAA-Public School Services on January 29th in the USCHS Resource Center at 6:30pm.  Registration is required, space is limited.

8th Grade Parent Meeting:  February 10

Current 8th grade parents are invited to attend this informational meeting on Monday, February 10th at 6:30 in the USCHS Theater.  The purpose of the meeting is to assist families with the course selection process for ninth grade and will also cover an overview of the ninth-grade program, a question and answer session, and a tour of the high school building.


SAT Prep Course:  Begins February 11

In preparation of the March 8, 2025 SAT Exam, the USCHS Counseling Department is offering a four-week prep course beginning February 11, 2025.  Students can opt to take two subject areas (Math and English) for $265 or just one area content for $185.  Registration includes a course textbook.  The registration deadline is January 26, 2025.  Space is limited, there will be no late registrations.
