Weighted Courses (AP, CHS, HN, IB)

Courses identified as Advanced Placement (AP) are considered weighted courses. They are intended for (but not limited to) those students wishing to take the AP exams offered in May. All AP courses are under review through an AP Audit conducted by the College Board and will be offered based on approval.

College in High School (CHS) courses are also considered weighted courses. These courses are offered in partnership with a postsecondary institution via an articulation agreement. Though not required, students have the opportunity, for a fee, to earn college credits while still in high school.

Honors (HN) level courses have an increased level of rigor and cover content in more depth and breadth. Students should anticipate material being covered at a faster pace, a higher demand for outside of school work, and additional reading and writing assignments. Only those students recommended for Honors level courses are encouraged to enroll.

Courses identified as International Baccalaureate (IB) are also considered weighted courses. Students taking an IB course are required to take the corresponding IB course exam in May.
