Speech & Debate Team

Speech and debate – traditionally referred to as “forensics”—continues a long legacy of student action and initiative here at Upper St. Clair.

Students sharpen skills in public speaking, oral interpretation, and formal debate through regular practices at the high school. Students then compete with other high school teams at locations around Pennsylvania from November through March. A robust organization, USC Speech and Debate serves a number of vital functions:

  • As a club - students meet twice weekly with elected officers under a student written constitution.

  • As a team - students compete throughout the year at the district, state, and eventually national levels to bring accolades to our high school and district.

  • As a leadership organization -  students sharpen skills and earn recognition as members of the nation’s oldest and most respected honor society, the National Speech and Debate Association
